Als Unternehmer &#8211; aus einer Unternehmerfamilie in \u00d6sterreich stammend &#8211; ist Martin Essl bekannt f\u00fcr sein Engagement f\u00fcr soziale Verantwortung und moderne Kunst. Nach dem Verkauf des bauMax-Konzerns im Jahr 2015 konzentriert sich Martin Essl nun auf Philanthropie und Immobilieninvestments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Martin und Gerda Essl gr\u00fcndeten 2007 zusammen mit ihren Kindern die Essl Foundation. Diese unterst\u00fctzt soziale Innovationen und Sozialunternehmer mit Fokus auf Menschen mit Behinderungen. Derzeit ist das Hauptprojekt der Essl Foundation das Zero Project, welches innovative Praktiken und Richtlinien erforscht, die Menschen mit Behinderungen weltweit unterst\u00fctzt und die j\u00e4hrliche Zero Project Conference in Wien organisiert. Die Essl Foundation ist auch Mitglied der Sinnstifter, einer gemeinsamen Initiative von derzeit zw\u00f6lf \u00f6sterreichischen Stiftungen, die soziale Innovationen cofinanzieren wie auch der Disability Thematic Network Group innerhalb des European Foundation Centre (EFC).
